Happy Birthday Dad, and Dylan!
Today, May 24, is the birthday of some pretty special people in my life, my father being the most prominent of them. What I found out today, however, was that it is the birthday of Bob Dylan as well. Bob Dylan has had a pretty big impact on me over the years, and I venture to say I may have never started writing had it not been for his lyrical prowess. How in all my years I have never put together that my father and BobbyD have the same birthday is beyond me. I have been listening to Dylan for a long time now at above average levels, I read his book, hell, I even took a seminar class on him in college, but never did I make this connection. When I found this out halfway through my radio show this morning it quickly became imperative that I dedicate the rest of the show to the legend. Unfortunately, with all sorts of things beyond my tech understanding going on with the systems at the station, my show did not record (I DO KNOW it was not for lack of my pressing record). Shame, I thought it was a pretty good mix of tunes. I also got to play an extra half hour at the end of my regularly scheduled block for some Dylan tribute which was fun. Here’s the play log, apologies for not having the audio this week. I’ll try to compensate with some audio postings at some point.
